Hello!

Welcome to Sprinkle of Wanderlust – your guide to day trips, weekend getaways, & bite-sized adventures within Eastern USA on a budget!

I created Sprinkle of Wanderlust in February 2025 during a career transition. I was a full-time pediatrician and enjoyed working with kids, but I found myself overworked, exhausted, and just unhappy on a daily basis.

I knew I needed to do something before my career took an even bigger hit on my physical and mental health. I quit my full-time job at the end of 2024 to pursue part-time clinical work and haven’t looked back since!

During this career transition, I wanted to take on a side project that let me express my creative side through writing, photography, & digital design. That’s how this blog was born!

I initially started off writing about home decor & food, but found that my true passion was in writing about travel…and food! I love going on road trips to small towns & cities within Eastern USA, learning about the history of each place, checking out the food scene, & testing out all the coffee shops in the area!

The East Coast is home to me. I grew up in Pennsylvania, lived in New York for 6 years, and moved back to Pennsylvania in 2024. While I haven’t traveled much internationally, I’m grateful to have seen most states along the East Coast of America. There is so much to explore here — historical sites, unique food scenes, vibrant art, large metropolitan cities, charming small towns, & hidden gems in unexpected corners!

However, as someone with 6-figures in student loans and a demanding work schedule, I get that it can be hard to find the budget & enough vacation time to travel.

My goal is to provide you with ideas for budget travel, day trips, weekend getaways, & short adventures within Eastern USA. I truly believe that you can plan a memorable trip even on a limited budget or with limited PTO, and I’m here to help you do just that!

I hope this blog helps you find inspiration & ideas for your next getaway! No matter how big or how small your adventure – make sure to travel smart, stay relaxed, and make the most of every journey!

  • I grew up in Pittsburgh, PA but lived in New York City for 6 years. I recently moved back to Pittsburgh in 2025 & love being close to my family again!
  • I took my first solo trip to Hong Kong when I was 18 years old. Well, kind of sort of a solo trip. I flew there on my own and spent time exploring Hong Kong on my own, but stayed with my uncle who lives there.
  • My favorite place to travel is Disney World. I would go there every weekend if I could! And yes, I have seriously contemplated moving to Orlando before 🤣
  • My #1 travel goal is to rent an RV and do a cross-country road trip through the United States one day
  • Although I do love international travel, I love exploring small towns in America even more. There are so many hidden gems to explore, even in your own backyard!
  • Full disclaimer — I’m not the most thrill-seeking or physically ambitious traveler out there so you won’t see any cool hikes or mountain climbing on this blog! In fact, I’ve been deathly afraid of hiking since I sprained my ankle pretty badly on a hike in Upstate New York back in 2021
